Issues installing Orion eval

Good afternoon,

As of today I have been tasked to run and test the Orion Monitor software.

So I downloaded the latest Evaluation package and installed this.

After the installation the wizard starts which is self explanatory, (I did follow the admin guide in case there were any settings I needed to be aware of)
During the last step of the wizard where it created the "orion database" it gives me an error message.

"An error occured configuring Orion Network Monitor Datavase. Operation is not allowed when the object is closed."

Not quite sure what "object" it's referring to but I did some checking and all services seem to be active.

Did a quick search on the forums and the knowledge base articles but I seem to be getting nowhere with that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Note: The time required to upgrade the Orion database depends on the size of your database. If you have a large database this may take a while.

uhm, it's working now.... I turned of the shared memory connection and it went through fine. So problem resolved!!

Is this a clean install? Have you tried using a different DB name>? The ConfigurationWizard.log file could tell us more. C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion -> ConfigurationWizard.log

Yep, it's a clean instal, and a new database. I've tried various random names for the databases and they do get created, but orion seems to not be able to access them.

If you re-run the setup wizzard it will see the database but claims it is not an orion compatible database, which I presume is due to the fact that it was not able tocreate the tables the first time round.

Unfortunatly, no one here knows alot about DB's as we don't really support that internally. So it could be something very obvious.
I've attached the whole log in the attachments.

It looks like a permissions issue. Install as local admin and verify that you have SA rights to that DB to be able to create the tables--

Ok, so what I did was a fresh install as the local admin.

Setup a seperate DB called "test" and created an account that has FULL DB ownership via the DB_owner security rights.

Ran the wizard again and used the test account and db i created and it still brings up the same errors.

My next test I deleted the database, and setup a new one and during creation i set the test account as the owner, still the same results there.
