OSPF Trap

Does anyone know how i can receive traps on OSPF. i have a cisco switch/router and i have the following command set on it:

snmp-server enable traps ospf cisco-specific state-change

how do i setup Orion to receive it and send out an alert when it is triggered??

You'll need to run the SNMP Trap Reciever in Solarwinds. Be aware it uses the built in SNMP Trap Receiver service. So if you're running this on Windows, you'll need to enable that service first, and set it to start automagically.

Then, set your trap receiver on your cisco box to send it's traps to Solarwinds.

You should see the trap come in live within the status screen of the trap receiver. Simply setup a filter to look for specifics in the trap (ie. OSPF, from specific hosts, etc) and setup an alert based on it, similar to the other apps. Unfortunately it's still a seperate alerting engine, but apparently they are working on consolidating the alerting into a single unified engine.

I've got my router OSPF configurations set to log any OSPF adjacency changes.
These get sent to my SW server as syslogs - no traps required.
ioshints.blogspot.com/.../enhanced-ospf-adjacency-logging.html

You can then setup alerts based on these syslog messages.
