I need to setup a monitor somehow monitor that a server share is up and running. Is there a way to do that in Solarwinds?

Not presently. You can monitor the Windows "Server" service, and you can even port monitor TCP 445 and 135, but at you can't monitor a share in using APM v1.0. I'm really hoping this feature makes it into v2.0.
