Application Monitoring & Active Alerts

Can someone at SolarWinds explain to me why Application alerts as defined in the advanced alerting engine do not show up under "Active Alerts"? It would seem that other advanced alerts show up in "Active Alerts" under a subcategory but Application Alerts do not show up at all. Why is that?
