Nested maps and 'include child status' behavior

I have a two layer map with 'include child status' selected on every object - first layer shows our various locations and the second shows the network equipment in a given location. If a node in layer two goes down, the location icon in layer one shows a red warning dot as expected.

I'm needing secondary indicators - ram, cpu etc - in layer two to cause the same location warning as above on the layer one map. Is it supposed to work that way because I'm not seeing that functionality right now.

Michael, it sounds like you are asking for status to be impacted by factors other than status. Unfortunately, this is not supported today. It is something we have heard a few times and are considering. I'm double checking to make sure there is not a work around, but I'm pretty sure what you are trying to do today is not possible.

Hi Michael,

If I understand the request correctly then probably thresholds can help.

Look at "Displaying Map Object Metrics" in the Administrator Guide.

You can set the desired level of cpu/memory usage per node to consider it as DOWN on map.

Then its status will propagate via child status to higher level map.
