Any ideas as to why my MS TCP Loopback interface would average around 30% transmit/recieve when my Broadcom adapter has 0% transmit/recieve on my Orion box?
Never got a reply on this and just noticed my Loopback interface on my Orion box is at 101% receive and transmit. Anyone from SW have any ideas? If not I guess I'll have to open a case.
Thanks.
This depends on if this server has any client software communicating with the server software on the same box. If this server is also hosting a website (i.e. Orion) it is possible to see traffic on the loopback plus any other applications like VNC, etc..You can increase the interface speed by adding a zero or two to the Transmit/Receive Bandwidth settings on the interface details page. I don't think it matters what you set it to, moreover, unless there is a reason to monitor the loopback interface, I would just uncheck them from the list resources page of the system manager.
Put a sniffer on that interface to see what it is. However, I have never done this and could not tell you how to do it. Look here.
