Windows event log forwarder

Hello,

I've seen a few discussions that talk about the "Windows event log forwarder".

A very basic question - is this a Solarwinds component, Microsoft or a third party? I would be grateful if somebody can point me in the direction of where to obtain a copy....

It is a Solarwinds additional component available on your customer portal if you have an up to date maintenance.

Click on Additional Components > Orion NPM components > Windows Event Forwarder.

Many thanks, I didn't investigate those links. I don't find the website that intuitive....

It has been downloaded, installed, configured and setup the alert in syslog viewer. It does just what we need. Many thanks for your help.

You may want to try SNARE. It's open source (free) and has some additional capabilities that are very useful.

A 30-day evaluation copy of the SolarWinds Log Forwarder is also available when you do a Kiwi Syslog Server evaluation. (As Yann noted, the full version is available from your SolarWinds Customer Portal after you have purchased a commercial product.) You can find the Log Forwarder trial executable in the Kiwi Syslog evaluation Zip file like this.

Once you have it installed, access it from the Start Menu.

Once the configuration dialog is up:

1) Click on the "Syslog Servers" tab to add your syslog server.

2) Click on the "Subscriptions" tab to add one or more rules to forward all or selected event logs to your syslog server.
