NPM with CUCM v11.0

Running on cucm v 9 but I have the whole setup I can help if you need it.

I've never setup alerts for it, but I know NPM does track number of registered devices natively. I would imagine you should be able to generate alerts for it, although it may require a custom query.

Thanks Both - I'm fairly sure I'll be able to create the alert if I can get the data into NPM. I'm struggling with the Universal Device Poller that I'm guessing I'll need to pull the information from the CUCM.

If you have a UnDP i'd be grateful if you'd share it. Or, if there's a better way to do it I'm grateful for any info..

Again, NPM does track the number of registered devices natively. You do not need to utilize Universal Device Pollers for this.

Thanks for that - I've just checked the resources for one of our CUCM node's and VoIP Call Managers isn't listed?? Is there somewhere else I need to enable it?

My setup includes VNQM voip and network quality.

I import CDR records from CUCM and register all my gateways devices here and set alerts threshold as I need.

I do get alerts on gateways and phone registration and even some for the UCS platform it all rides on.

For the purpose of more information or for alerting?

Both ideally - it would be good to be able to keep an historic view of the number of phone registrations for management purposes, but also alert if a predetermined number of phones suddenly become unregistered as that would be a good indication of a problem.

I use SAM to setup my alerts off of what you see below.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately I don't think we have a license for SAM. As far as I'm aware we're only licensed for NPM.

Without the VNQM module, you are not going to see the VoIP resources referenced above.

You should investigate creating a universal device poller from the either ccmPhoneTable (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.156.1.2.1) and ccmGatewayTable (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.156.1.3.1) or the ccmRegisteredPhones or ccmRegisteredGateways scalar OIDs (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.156.1.5.5 or 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.156.1.5.8)

Once you have the data being polled, you would need to create a custom SQL alert that would compare the number of registered phones and/or gateways from the last poll to the current count and trigger if the result >= 50

At my old job I had this, but I also had SAM. At my new job I had this, but while I don't have SAM I have VNQM. So it's possible maybe one of those two products is required in order to obtain this information otherwise universal device poller? I was thinking this base information on registered devices like I showed in my screenshot was from NPM.

Yeah, the overlap can get confusing, but that resource you screenshot earlier is 100% from VNQM. NPM and SAM can gather these metrics through SNMP, but are definitely not doing so natively.
