Domain Account User Creation NPM v.10.1.2

Hi!

Just want to ask, I'm already using NPM v.10.1.2.....For the Domain Account User Creation, do we need first to member the Solarwinds server to the existing domain of the users before we could add the said existing user accounts???

I've tried adding user accounts and when I did try to click the search thing it fails.

We also on 10.1.2 and have no problems when adding domain accounts. This makes me wonder about the credentials that you are entering under the Active Directory or Local Domain Authentication. Does it have the necessary rights to connect and access the Active Directory? This is a must, since this account will be used by Orion to authenticate before performing searches.

Also, what about the Orion server itself? Is it a member of the same Active Directory domain as the one where the accounts are being added from? Please, provide a bit more information on this matter, so we may be of assistance in this matter.

The above question is what I'm really asking for, because my Orion Server is not yet a member of the AD domain of the accounts.

Sorry, I guess I did not read your question properly. In our case, we had to add the Orion NPM server to the same Active Directory domain where the users belong to. This has worked flawlessly so far, and the account and group searches are very quick.

Now, we have not tried to add users from other Active Directory domains, but only from the same AD domain. So, if a user from a diferent AD domain needs access to our Orion NPM application, we first requested for his/her account to be added first to our AD domain. Once the person's account has been added to our AD domain, then we proceeded as normal.

So, I do not know how Orion would handle the task of adding users from a domain that the Orion server itself is not a member of. It would be interesting to learn if Orion can attach to authenticate accounts from other AD domains just as well as it does for the accounts from the same AD domain.

Again, I apologize for not reading your question properly. It is a good question and I hope you get answers soon. Else, I would suggest for you to try the same option of adding the Orion to the same domain and then only adding users that are in the same AD domain. Best wishes!!!
