Monitoring multiple UPS temperatures

Question

I currently have one APC UPS that I monitor the temp and have my alerts send an email when it reaches a certain temperature. I have the device setup in my universal poller using iemStatusProbeCurrentTemp. I now want to add three more UPS to do the same. I assigned the devices to the same defined poller as the first.

I am not sure how to set my alerts to email the proper UPS if it has problems. My current alert will trigger if “pollerName =” and “numericStatus=”. If I add “NodeName=” as another trigger, will it compare the name to the UPS that is having the problem? Or do I need to setup four separate pollers with different names? Hope this makes sense….

Or does anyone have a better suggestion on how I should do this.

While I am not 100% sure what it is you want to setup, I am guessing you are monitoring the same OID's on the same type of devices of which you have 4. You then want to alert if any of these go above a certain temperature.

If this is the case, do as you have done with the Universal Poller and assign it to the 4 devices.

Then create an Advanced alert with the following Trigger Condition:

Trigger Alert when all of the following apply
Custom Node Poller > Poller Name = Created UDP
Custom Node Poller > Status greater than <value>

In the Trigger Action create your email entry, which includes in the text the following variables:

${NodeName}

${CustomPollerStatus.Status}

This will dynamically enter the name of the device which has breached the threshold and enter the last polled value
