Unmanaged elements saving on licenses?

Hi All,

I'm interested to know if unmanaging nodes/interfaces saves on elements from a licensing perspective. The reason I ask is we have a production NPM with an SLX license and a Dev/Test NPM with an SL2000. Now we're planning to use the Dev/Test one for DR as well but if we were to point it to the restored SQL DB it would go well over the 2000 element limit. Therefore ideally I'd like to unmanage lots of nodes to bring the total down and allow everything else to be polled. Does it work that way?

it does not, all nodes/interfaces/volumes count towards your limit, it does not matter whether they are unmanaged or not

talking of DR... how would you do a failover? did you take a look at the Failover Engine yet?

That's a shame although I did have a feeling it'll be that way.

Regarding the Failover Engine, it does look something that might help but as it'll be a separate site on a separate network connecting to a DR restored SQL database I'm not sure how much it will help us.
