Trying to get Email alerts from NPM for UPS on Battery...

We have a mixture of APC and Liebert UPS' in house. I have been messing around with the NPM alerts to no avail. We currently have critical node now alerts emailing when a node is down. I am trying get the same type of email alerts for when a UPS goes on battery power. I can't get it to work. When I am in the NPM web browser, I see the trap. I plug the UPS back in and I see another trap within the NPM web browser.

I am configuring via Advanced Alerts. I am using the UPS OID of 1.3.6.1.2.1.33.2.1

Nothing is working and I can't figure this out. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I have a work-around in place. I was able to create and configure email alerts based on relevant Syslog messages. I would like to get the alerts working via traps; but for now, at least we have something.

Are you using Trap View to configure the alerts? If so, for the APC I used the Condition of "Traps received where any of the following are true"

SNMPv2-MIB:snmpTrapOID is equal to PowerNet-MIB:apc.0.5.

Okay, dumb question (my disclaimer), How would I know I was using Trap Veiwer to connfigure the alerts?

Also, if I configure "PowerNet-MIB:apc.0.5" for UPS On-Battery, then would I configure "PowerNet-MIB:apc.0.9" for Off-battery?

You will need to use the Trap Viewer to generate the alert, and the Trap should be there in the Application. Once you find the Trap, you can Right Click on the Trap and Select Add Rule. This will automatically populate all information for the Rule, then you can create the Email action to notify you.

Another dumb question - actually a continuation of the first dumb question... How do I get to the Trap Viewer?

Okay, so Trap Viewer is part of NCM and not NPM. As far as I know, we are getting all our traps from NPM. Since we're not receiving traps from NCM, wouldn't it make more sense to generate the amail alert from NPM; where the traps come from?

I believe Trap Viewer is part of NPM, not NCM. Go to Start - Programs - SolarWinds Orion - Syslog and SNMP Traps. You should have Trap Viewer there.

Thanks Sean et al; okay, here's what I did - I found the Trap Viewer in NPM and configured as the pic below shows. I pulled the UPS's plug several times with no alerts occurring. I also noticed that we aren't getting any more traps. Syslog still works but no traps for about 2 hours. I wonder if I hosed something....
