Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
recognizing bandwidth upgrades
DGoodale
Hey Folks! We are getting ready to upgrade bandwidth at nearly 100 sites. I do NOT want to adjust all the interface speeds manually. Anyone know if there is a way to have Orion rescan the interfaces and adjust the speed settings by itself?
Any help GREATLY appreciated!

The rediscover funtion within Orion should automatically change any information it finds different from a previous scan, when we've changed nodenames, they've automaticlaly changed within node details once the rediscover happens. If I rember right the rediscover is set to every 30 mins.

The Rediscover process will not overwrite any bandwidth settings. It is designed this way to allow the user to change bandwidth settings (for example: an interface only using half of a T1), and have the settings saved. Otherwise, when the next Rediscovery occurs, the bandwidth settings would be set back to a full T1 in this example. To have Orion rediscover all of your bandwidth settings, perform the following:
Stop the SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor Service.
Run a query on the Interfaces table in the database that sets both the InBandwidth and OutBandwidth values to "0" for the Interfaces that are to be rediscovered.
Restart the Service.
Once the Service has been restarted, a Rediscovery will automatically be performed, and the new bandwidth settings will be assigned.
