Reporting Issues

We are having issues with automated reports. When the report is ran the email it sends gives the following error for some attachments:

Unable to retrieve url: netmon03.westipc.com:80/.../Report.aspx using Excel type.netmon03.westipc.com:80/.../Report.aspx

I have tried multiple things to fix this issue; and it seems to be sporadic as it does not always effect the same attachment types and no one attachment type works 100% of the time.

Does anyone have any input they can offer?

Try to login to your Orion server and open IIS Manager.

Once there, select the SolarWinds NetPerfmon site and make sure that when you edit the bindings, the IP Address should be set to ALL UNASSIGNED.

Click OK to update the website.

Greetings Janene16,

Having same issue. Seems to happen 100% of the time. Have checked our IIS bindings, and confirmed set to ALL UNASSIGNED. WE only have ssl enabled. The webserver has an alias (orion.healthbc.org) - the certificate is assigned to this alias as well. However the Server name of the webserver is something different. The table website contains the server name, not the alias we use to access the website. Should I try editting the table 'websites' and update the servername for our webserver to be the alias (which matches cert), instead of the actual server name ? BTW: PDFs work fine & this is an additional webserver, and our reports are configured to also use additional webserver.

janene16 Our binding is set to All Unassigned and we only provide access on Port 80. We have the Primary Polling Engine and an additional Web Engine. Our "Websites" database table includes the hostname for the two servers as well as the preferred FQDN, the preferred FQDN is set as the "Primary".

The other thing to note is that the actual hostnames of the servers are for private ips, the Preferred FQDN is for a public ip that nats to the private IP of the Web Engine. Any thoughts?

Hi billyjbryant since you are using FQDN for accessing the web console, you can try changing the name of the websites for your Primary Polling Engine and an additional Web Engine instead of using the server Hostname..

janene16, this works until we do an upgrade or have to do some other reconfiguration of Solarwinds as the Configuration Wizard seems to revert these changes automatically.

This is a masterpiece that drove us nuts.

I fixed it by using the Orion admin account and not a domain account as the credentials to use for report automation.

We fixed this by updating the Websites table. Our website listens on port 443 with SSL, but the entry for the "primary" website was lacking the FQDN, had port=80 and had sslEnabled=0. I ran this query to update it:

update Website set Servername='<web server FQDN>', Port='443', SSLEnabled='1' where Type='primary'

After this update, the report scheduler was able to send reports as PDF, Excel, and CSV files.

Thanks for sharing. Updated our websites to reflect FQDN of website url and it resolved our excel attachment issue.

Goddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!! it resolved the issue. Now I can retrieve anything from the report.

Thank you, we implemented this and it seems to be working!
