Customize Orion's database

For nodes that do not support SNMP and are simply being monitored with ICMP, is there a way to manually assign static information in terms of VendorIcon and MachineType from the Database Manager. Changing this information only seems to last temporarily - although in some cases I have seen that the information does actually remain the same. I have been successful in changing the icon, machine type, and other information as displayed in the "List of Objects on Network Map" as well as "Node Details" resources by these means, but the information does not stay as entered - it always changes back.

 I can't pinpoint any particular process in Orion that is causing these overwrites, as it doesn't seem to be consistant. I had attempted to pin it on the polling, but even the timing isn't consistant with the new entries. Has anyone had experience attempting this customization?

 This feature isn't possible in the current version.  Also, the canonical list of nodes and node information is kept in memory, not in the database.  So if you change the database, the memory object will overwrite it.  The only way to do make node changes directly to the database is to stop the poller, make the change, and then start it again.
