it´s Polling - but no more statistics are registe

Since Last Sunday, i have no more statistics , i don´t know whats happend...it is polling ok, but in the graphs the period since sunday from today is in blank.
Sorry my english...!
Please, help, i don´t know what to do.

I am also experiencing the same problem. The server is up and running and polling, but I cannot even connect to the polling engine from the server.
Does anybody out there know what is wrong? I am beginning to get a bit despondant with Orion as it is proving not to be as reliable as I would expect. The problem might be finger trouble on my side, but I am not able to get much assistance.

If you are running V7, then goto Windows Services->Right Click on the Solarwinds service->Properties->Log On and UNCHECK "Allow Service to Interact with Desktop" - this should solve your problems.

I strongly suggest you contact the Solarwinds Support team when you see problems like this. They are excellent at responding to problems (they gave me the above answer), and of course, you may discover new problems that we all need to know about

I got the same issue by using V7 with the built in SQL server. It reached the 2GB file limit size without any warning and stopped reporting or graphing anything any more.

I started the database maintance after setup new ( shorter ) time adjustements in the database settings tab on the console.

If you see the database file at approx. 2GB you know that's the troublemaker. Nowadays we use a dedicated SQL server enterprise version, no more file size limits with now polling with an SL-500 license.

I've seen this issue every few months on our system... a reboot solves the issue, though I'd rather not see it at all. We're running full enterprise SQL server, though it is local. I'm going to give the "uncheck allow service to interact with desktop" solution. The only maddening thing about this error that I've seen... it takes months and months to know if I'm going to see the problem reoccur.

One of our DBA's suggested it might be a record locking issue. For anyone seeing the issue, if you've got some DBA's that understand Microsoft SQL, you might want to have them take a look at it during occurrence the actual problem. The 2GB limit causing the same symptoms may be unrelated. I know our DB hovers around that, but we're running full Enterprise SQL.

I found this on solawinds website "* A Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine, with a 2 Gig capacity, is included with this product."
This could mean that when the db is over 2gb it crash.....what do you think??

We've had the same issue.... it was the 2G limit on the Sql server. we upgraded to the full version of MS SQL and set up a good maintainance plan, it's been rock solid ever since.

I've been experiencing this problem too. Only I'm running Enterprise SQL so no 2Gig limit on the database. I've been working around it by rebooting my Orion server nightly.
I just got off the phone with support. They told me my problem should be fixed with 7.1. I installed 7.1.89 yesterday and disabled my nightly reboot. I guess we'll find out how things go in the next few days.

Hi We are having the same problems as we are still just evaluating the product with version 7.1.75 would be interested to know if .89 has solved your problem.

I have had a similar issue where my graphs would have gaps in them and restarting the server would fix the problem. Unfortunatly a couple of days later exactly the same would happen again. Eventually we found the SQL server (Enterprise on seperate server) was running out of space as the DB grow function was not working correctly. To make matters worse if you increase the DB size the shrink job run weekly by the DB maintenance script resets this back down to a minimum again. We have had to set a job to run after the DB maintenance to increase the size of the DB until we can sort out the root cause. Solarwinds are working on this. Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 305635.
