I have a customer property of CustomerEmail set on each of my nodes. Can I use that variable in the send to field in an advanced alert? If so what would it look like?
You sure can. If alerting on the node then just use ${CustomerEmail} in the To: field.

So if I am alerting on a volume should I use ${Node.customer.email} I think this works
If you're using the web alert builder then you can hit the 'insert variable' button near the body. Select the custom property from the list and hit ok. Then just copy that string to the To field.
