What are the prerequisites for applying LDAP authentication?
What steps need to be followed if WPM and SAM are being used without LDAP and now need to be LDAP configured?
LDAP in what capacity? Please explain in as much detail what you are trying to accomplish.
What we are trying to accomplish is using LDAP authentication for WPM access to have the following, Name/Password Authentication mechanism of simple bind. A simple LDAP bind operation with a name that corresponds to a valid user entry and the password value corresponding to that user which is defined in an authentication table.
esmsolarwinds, your explanation may be too much information that I find myself somewhat confused. Are you trying to authenticate users attempting to access the WPM web interface using their LDAP credentials, or are you describing some form of synthetic LDAP authentication monitor?
What we are looking to do is have SolarWinds authentication executed with a user account predefined within the organizations LDAP tables.
Do you mean authentication to your Solarwinds web site? If so you'd use the admin settings and use windows accounts/groups.
If you mean you want to go to a website using WPM that requires an AD account to log in, you'd connect to the site and then enter credentials when recording. This would then play back the recording using the credentials you provided.
If you need to use a domain account to access the web recorder, you'd make sure its added in your website, admin settings as a windows account that has Admin rights to WPM.
If you mean you need to use domain accounts instead of local synthetic accounts, there is the tool provided with WPM to use domain accounts you specify. I think all of us are a little confused on the actual question/problem.
PParsaie, Thank you for your response. Yes there are a few ways to go when setting up LDAP authentication. I believe we will be going with the domain account to access the recorder and console. I was interested in knowing what other WPM customers are using in their respective environments or a best practices recommendation.
