orion "events" tab - what is the source of events

SW, I need to verify the source of the events in Orion...

Think I know answer but need verification...
Events are sourced from Orion itself, based on the polling it does is that correct?

In other words, it is not using syslog or SNMP to generate events....or is it a combo of everything Orion sees coming in and just a custom subset of criteria that defines it as an event?
