Has anyone imported Aruba AP's into Orion?

I am trying to add some Aruba AP 65's into Orion. I originally had added them manually via ICMP only but deleted them so I could import them using a seed file as I have a lot.

To test that they would work I tried to manually add one via the System Manager. When I did I got a message "NodeName does not support the Interfaces MIB". I have to click okay and it adds it but there is no SNMP available.

Also, the Network Discovery fails - I guess because of the same thing mentioned above.

Is there a work around?

Go to the wireless tab and select Show AP's. All of my AP125's list there and are discovered automatically.

I monitor over 800 Aruba AP's in Orion. I found that it works best to monitor the controllers for the AP status rather than teh AP's directly. In 9.5, the wireless devices show up under the Wireless tab in NPM. NPM pulls the AP stats from the controllers rather than directly from the AP's.

Unless of course, these are Aruba AP's without controllers?

I added my Aruba wireless controller and it auto added the 65's that I have. But the problem I have it that we have two SSID's running on every AP on both the b/g and A radios. So it added 4 AP's for every physical AP we have since each SSID on each radio has a MAC address. It also did not read the SNMP name we gave the AP in the controller.

Anyone know how to make Orion read the AP's correctly?

Hi there - how do you get Orion to display the AP's from the controllers tho.

I can see the IP addresses from the poller at the back end but cant get these to display on the page?

Hi its very easy, only when you enable and know the SNMP.

When all that is done, go to Orion, Manage Node, Add a new node, type Aruba Management IP, SNMP Port 161, and Community String is the one that you selected on Aruba SSH. Test and Ok, give like 2 min to populate, and DONE. Every single AP will show under Orion, Network, Wireless.
