Cant get SERV-U to (MFT) to connect to Serv-U Gateway (Win 2012R2)

Hello,

I have installed Serv-U MFT on windows server 2012R2 and on a separate server installed the Serv-U Gateway on 2012R2 in the DMZ.

I have confirmed the following:

I can ping both to and from each server.

I see the gateway server is listening on port 1180

I have shut off the windows firewall on both servers (just in case that was blocking)

listeners I have added for the Gaeway have a yellow triangle with a single exclamation point

I have also installed the hotfix, now the systray icon flashes green/yellow

What am I missing?

I figured out the flashing yellow system tray icon, it was a bad listener. once that was removed the message balloon showed "online" and now the icon is solid green.

I still cant get the gateway to connect.

Did you see this: Serv-U Gateway Installation Instructions for Windows ?

Is there a firewall between your internal network & your DMZ? Did you poke a hole for the port you are using?

Is your license still valid?

Hello,

Yes I did follow that instruction sheet on how to install.

Yes we have the firewall configured with proper NAT’ing in the DMZ

I am able to ping to and from each server to the other.

I have tried to connect to the gateway on port 1180 with putty just to ensure the port is not dead. The connection is refused and dropped.

I have checked the net stat and port 1180 is listening on the internal (Private) address

I just downloaded and installed the product last week, and also purchased the license which was applied. I can’t install the Gateway license as it will not connect.

That is odd. You may need to open up a support ticket.

It sounds like something it trying to interfere with the serv-u gateway communication. You might try if you can connect on that port locally (on the gateway machine itself). See if the connection gets dropped there as well. If it does, look at the gateway machine- does it have more than one fire wall? Does it have anti virus or anti malware that is preventing the connection?

If it does not get dropped, start looking at the network devices between gateway & serv-u.

Also, does your serv-u instance have a public IP? You could be hitting a security lock: Configuring Serv-U and Serv-U Gateway
