Removing old interfaces

An old fast ethernet switch was changed for a gigabit ethernet switch. The new switch has the same name and IP address as the old switch. In NPM a number of interfaces were being monitored in the old switch which were not removed prior to the change over. This means these interfaces are reported obviously with no data but as they do not appear in the resources of the current switch, how can they be removed completely

Manually remove interfaces in NPM

Overview

This article provides steps to manually remove interfaces in the web console.

Environment

NPM version 11.5.3+

Steps

Select the target node that needs to be added in the interface monitoring.
In the Management section, click the List Resources icon. You can also see list resources when you select Manage nodes, and then select the said node and list resources.
Once you click list resources and that shows up, you can select those that are unnecessary, select more actions, and then delete/remove interface.

If this does not work or is not an option, perhaps this can be done from the database with assistance from support. (Might as well involve them if you have to invoke the nuclear option.)

Thank you for the response.

Unfortunately The old switch cannot be re-installed as is. It may be possible to bring it back with a different IP address (and probably a different host name) but even that is not certain.I will need to check that it hasn't been disposed of in the mean time. Your suggestion makes perfect sense if the original switch could be re-instated as was but as the new switch was a direct replacement, it has the same name and IP address as the original. If the original still exists on site, then I will change the IP and hostname, link it into the network and do as you suggest however I was hopeful it could be done in some way without having to re-instate the original switch
