Hi Guys.
i want to fully utilized the new orion map but would like to know the prerequisite or documentation/write up to use it. CDP neighbors is currently disable on some switches but LLDP is on.
Here are a few documents to help also in the 2019.4 Orion maps you can make that connection manually if Orion does not see it.
ORION PLATFORM 2019.4 - ORION MAPS RC (NPM Forum)
Success Center - Technical troubleshooting for common "ConnectNow" issues
You will need to enable L2/L3 polling for the node, and also be monitoring the uplink interfaces. If the links aren't being detected automatically, you can create them manually with the new Orion Maps.
That's the rub but if you think about it Orion has to find the information somehow to know what devices are neighbors to each other. It's getting better and can find the data more ways than one but it needs something to go on. I have the same issues with some of these protocols being turned off for security reasons and it's done on purpose to prevent adversaries from doing discovery on your network as easily.

You can also see improvements here from the maps guru: Orion Platform 2019.4 - Orion Maps is Now Available
To reiterate what has been stated in much of the comments, the Orion Maps feature is utilizing data exposed through the different modules. However with the link that serena posted above, you can now use the Map Editor to define topology that may not have been automatically detected. If something is not automatically being detected and you believe that it should, please share that info and examples. jason.carrier is collecting information on this topic.
