New Vendor MIBs. Where do I put them?

We're trying to receive email alerts when our Liebert UPS' go on battery or self-test. Everything I have done has failed. I called and spoke to a Liebert Engineer. He had me do a MIB Walk and send him what I had. He, in turn, sent me a Winzip file of a bunch of MIBs he wants me to load. My question is, where do I put them?

You will need to open a Support Ticket, and we will add them to the Database, and the Support Technician will notify you when they are available.

Adding new MIBs to the SolarWinds MIB Database does not automatically add monitoring or additional functionality other than for Traps. Adding MIBs will help you if you are using Universal Device Pollers as indicated below.

Note: After submitting your MIBs to the SolarWinds MIB Database, you must download and install the new, updated MIB database to gain the benefits of your added MIBs.

Universal Device Poller

If you do not immediately know the OID that you want to poll, you can use the Universal Device Poller application to browse the MIB tree to find the data you want to poll. If you already know the MIB and/or OID for the data you want to poll, you do not need to add the corresponding MIBs to the SolarWinds database. Of course, adding your MIBs may be of assistance to another SolarWinds user in the future.

Traps

If your Orion server receives a trap from a monitored device, and the relevant MIB for the trap does not exist in the installed SolarWinds MIB Database, Orion may not display the correct data. Providing the relevant MIBs for your devices will resolve this issue, once the updated MIB database is installed.

The first step is to verify that the MIBs are not already in our MIB library. You can do this by browsing or search the MIB library using the Universal Device Poller. If the MIBs you're interested in are not in the library, you can get them added by following the steps in this KB article.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your reply. I have verified that the Liebert MIBs I was sent, are not in the MIB library. I also just updated our MIB library with the latest MIB database. I am ready to stick these new MIBs in. I just don't know where.

After reading a few past threads on this type of request, It looks like I need to do the following:

Open a service request and submit this new MIBs to Solarwinds.
Then have them add them to the MIB database.
Download the updated MIB database after Solarwinds has added them on some Friday???

For catching when your UPS goes to battery power you can set up a UnDP using

oid - 1.3.6.1.2.1.33.1.2.2
name - upsSecondsOnBattery

If the returned value of the poller is greater than 0 you're on battery power.

I use a few others for our UPS' as well -

upsAlarmsPresent
oid - 1.3.6.1.2.1.33.1.6.1
Obviously anything over 0 is bad

upsBatteryStatus
1.3.6.1.2.1.33.1.2.1
Should return batteryNormal. Based on the low battery config setting.

upsEstimatedChargeRemaining
1.3.6.1.2.1.33.1.2.4
Value is in percentage.

upsOutputSource
1.3.6.1.2.1.33.1.4.1
Should return a value of normal.

I need some clarification, Those mentioned OID's are same for all the different ups vendor? Is it only for Emerson Liebert?
