3Com Switch And Weird Port Speeds
deepblackmagic
I have a 3com superstack switch, and solarwinds is pulling weird values for port speeds on certain ports. It thinks one port is 40mbps and another is 80mbps when both are 100mbps, so its reporting 180% utilization sometimes during large file transfers. I tried manually entering 100000000 into the interface details port speed box, however the values presented on the website dont update eventhough the interface details window shows it as i set. I already double checked the switch configuration and the ports are set at the correct speeds, and the systems plugged into those ports see it as a 100mbit full duplex connection.

I think 3Com does some funky stuff with the port bandwidth calcualtions.
They may consider 100mbit Full Duplex as 200mbits.
Try adjusting the interface bandwidth slider to 200mbits and see if Orion calculates correctly.
