How to monitor temperature with an AVTech product

Question

We have 10 of these units: Room Alert 7E which can be seen here: http://avtech.com/Products/#RA7E

The products are listed in the Solar Winds downloadable mibs.cfg file. I downloaded that file and placed it in my F:\Program Files\Solar Windows\Common area.  Still, Solar Winds only sees the Ethernet stats, no temperature data,

What am I missing?

I have found and added the Temperature Sensor to my node details page. It still shows no data though. The average response time graph works but the custom poller status section says no data. Do yo have to tell this custom poller how often to poll somehwere?

From the steps you mentioned it seems like you did it correctly-

In the Web Console - Did you click + next to either column to display the Add Resources page?

hit Submit-

click Preview. Does anything show>?  A preview of your custom web console should open in a new window.

Okay, I have the remote temp senser all set up with an IP address and an SNMP password. The device is a Room Alert 7E for AVTech.

I go into Orion NPM and add the node. It only supports SNMP V1 but it does work.

So then I go into Custom MIB Pollers and select NEW. I browse for the node I just created and then click Browse in the SELECT OID: area.

Then I find the right OID that I want to use: 1.3.6.1.4.1.20916.1.2.1.1.5 which is tempReading1F and click OK. I get a message saying The SNMP test succeeded!

I don't know what to do with the GROUP area so I make up a name: TempMon and click next.

Now it asks about the MIB Value Type.....  Well the tem is read back as 4 digits so 94.33 degress looks like 9433 in the MIB viewer.... I suppose that means it is Raw Value? Not sure so I select Raw Value, Type Text.

I want historical data so I select that... Looks like I am done so I select finish.

I make sure that this custom MIB is assigned to the node I created.....

I edit the map to make sure the new node is on my regular map

I exit NPM and go into the web interface... I select ADMIN then Customize Views, Node Details, Edit, Add,

Hmm... I don't see my custom MIB..   I have never done this before, what am I missing?
