Dear Sir or Madam -
On the Solarwinds site and on Thwack, we have seen some references to setting the "Max Pool Size" of the connection string found in the SWNetPerfMon.DB file. For example, this question - NPM 10.4 Questions
We are wondering what symptoms would indicate that we need to set the value of "Max Pool Size". For example, we sometimes see errors like these in the Orion log files -
2015-01-04 15:30:55,735 [Scheduler] ERROR SolarWinds.Collector.OrionCommon.SWEventLogging - Service was unable to open new database connection when requested.
Exception Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.
2015-01-04 15:30:58,672 [STP SmartThreadPool Thread #12457] ERROR SolarWinds.Orion.Common.SWEventLogging - Service was unable to open new database connection when requested.
Exception Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.
Do these indicate that we need to set "Max Pool Size" ?
Any guidance you can provide would be helpful.
Thank you.
