Separate Syslog Server

Prior to upgrading to Orion 8.0 we had a separate Syslog server. Since the integration my Netperfmon db has grown significantly. I would like to know if there is a way to separate Syslog from Netfpermon. I have a 324 GB hard drive that has become 80% full since the upgrade.

That's not possible. How long are you retaining Syslog messages? You can go into the Syslog Viewer and under File > Settings... you can set the number of days to keep those messages. Lowering that number might help.

The network manager wants to maintain 90 days of history. This was not a problem when the system was separate.

Wow. 90 days is pretty crazy depending upon how chatty your devices are. I'm assuming s/he's not a 'technical' manager?

As a matter of fact he is.....he's the senior network engineer.

Again...this was not an issue when the syslog server was separate from Netperfmon.

It may be crazy, but it is becoming a requirement at some enterprises to keep those events/records for a certain amount of time to comply with various regulations and security audits.
