Alerting Question

We have seperate alerts for the same events during business hours vs after hours. My questions is how to best set it up so that say we have node go down during business hours, it doesn't create a new alert when it becomes afterhours, and vice versa. I tried the 'Node status has changed' condition but it doesn't seem to be working like I thought it would be. How do I set an alert to be generated only if it is a new alert and not the same alert carrying over?

I hate to bump this but I think it might have been buried. Does anyone else have this issue?

Are you using Basic or Advanced alerts? In either case, alert s are on/off affairs. If it goes on during business hours, it will stay on until you get to a Reset condition. It won't create a new alert after hours.

We are using Advanced Alerts. We have seperate alerts for business hours and after-hours. The only difference between the two are the Time of Day that they are enabled. What we've noticed if a node goes down during business hours, it send the alerts, and then when the Time of Day matches for after-hours, it sends that alert as well.

For instance, right now I have a site that's been down for a few days. There are 3 alerts on the same node because it went down during business hours, which created an alert. Then when it switched to after hours, since the site was down, it created another alert, and then when the weekend came and it was still down, it created a 3rd alert. I'm trying to avoid this.

When I add the condition 'Node Status has changed' it seems to kill the entire alert by not meeting the conditions.

Any ideas on how to set it to alert only when a site goes down the first time, and to ignore it if it's been down?

Here is a good example of what I'm talking about. It's the same site, and when the time changed it created a new alert. It went down on 6/23/2009, then when the business hours alert kicked in at 7am the next day, it waited 20 minutes per the conditions, and created a new alert.
