10 second poll interval = 30 seconds before network alert.

Hello,

I have the polling interval of some very sensitive systems set up to be 10 seconds, and it appears Solarwinds won't send any network alerts until the node is in 'warning' or 'down' state for at least 30 seconds - 3 polling intervals. I am not able to reduce the interval below 10 seconds.

I am looking for an option to send me an alert immediately if I lose even a single ping to an IP address.

In case you use "advance alert", this is done by periodical check values in database.So it depends how often this periodical check is.

For your purposes is much more suitable "basic alert" which react directly after poll result arrives.

you should also be able to manage this via snmp/syslog based on interfaces going down, etc...

OR you could look into IPSLA. not sure about how often/interval it will let you do it, but worth checking out maybe.

SLA would be a great suggestion, but in the interests of scalability I ended up writing a custom icmp based nms in python for this purpose. Works -fantastic-
