application monitoring snmp problem

HI,
I have setup application monitoring with orion. I am monitoring a linux box with snmp. I selected a couple of applications like gpm & a ping (which I had previously set to ping continously).
Now, when I shut gpm or cancel the ping, orion doest see it. If I select the applications to monitor once again, it shows that ping and gpm no longer exists, but the status button in orion or application monitor doesnt turn red and just stays there at green.
Any ideas...
