Huawei Suppport

Hi all,

Is there a way to monitor Huawei routers. One of our providers installed such a router instead of a cisco router.

I would be greak to monitor this router like we do with our other Cisco Equipment.

As long as it's SNMP capable, it can be monitored.

Thanks for your quick respons.

I have to say that it doesn't work. I have the error that the devices doesn't respond to the SNMP key. The key has been verified.

Any other idea's?

We are successfully monitoring some Huawei routers (only get interface stats and Response time/packet loss - no cpu/memory) so it can be done - I do not have the router config though as these are 3rd party devices we monitor for a client. We are using snmp v2c for these and the routers report version 3.40, RELEASE 0006(T102) if that helps.

Has SNMP been configured on it? What model is it? Did you go to Huawei's website and look for an example?

I have the exact same question for our Huawei 1600A. It uses the NE Software Version 5.44.03.11. I wonder if anyone has been monitoring this device in Solarwinds.

Hi All,

We have a very large Huawei deployment and we currently manage our customer CPE devices which are the S3328, S3528 L3 Switches, a couple AR28 and some AR 18-32/31 Routers. We use SNMP Ver 2c and apply the following configuration:

snmp-agent trap enable
snmp-agent community read <your community>
snmp-agent community write <your community>
snmp-agent sys-info version all

This is standard on all of our devices as well as sending SNMP traps which is are two other lines of configuration, one the source and the other the destination.

By default you get Device and Interface statistics such as bandwidth throughput, response time, input and output errors. However CPU and memory would have to done through the Universal Device Poller which we also have successfully done, but hardly ever use. For memory we have done a transform poller to convert the memory stats into MB in our lab.

As we have a very large deployment of primarily Huawei devices I would definitely want to help confirm fixes and participate in your beta testing. We have a Virtual Environment built on VMWare with the NPM and SQL Server separate from our production servers for our testing. Please let me know how soon and when we can apply the beta. We can use the evaluation version of the NPM to modify. We currently use 5.20, 5.30 version of the VRP on our Switches and 3.40 on the few routers that we have.

Tomorrow we are adding the NCM to try to do the Change and Configuration Management portion of our deployment for testing. If you have a beta version of this we would also like to try this as well. I eagerly await your response. Thank you very much for the heads up.

Hi Jusmax, could you please help me with the step by step processes in using custom puller to configure the CPU and Memory utilization for the Huawei boxes? i currently have a similar problem.
