Automated Deletion of FIles

Orion does a good job of stating yes the desk utilization is over a certain percentage, but I want it to go a step further. When the alert is triggered that the disk space is over a certain percentage I would like the capability to trigger another event that deletes all files over a certain age and then empties the recyle bin. Upon completion a notice is transmitted telling me it was accomplished. No delays in production occurred and no middle of the night calls. I have some other ways of accomplishing this, but doing it through the use of one product would be great.

With Orion you can run scripts to perform nearly any task when an alert is fired. The scripts can be vbasic, perl, or any other programming language that is nifty for scripting. Using this ability you could run a script to perform the actions you describe below.

Go into the Alert Manager select your disk utilization alert and add a n Execute Script action to the Triggered actions.

We run a series of scripts based on Application and Interface utilization that allow us to take proactive steps rather than requiring manual intervention when thresholds have been exceeded.
