This is not really a Solarwinds question but more a VMWare optimization question. A while back we decided to virtualize our Solarwinds Orion Server and I know I tax the heck out of it and really make that SLX license work. 99% of the time it runs great! (even with SQL loaded on the same VM - which we are going to change). But every once in a while we work in vCenter trying to build a new VM or some other process that works the ESX hosts and all my VMs and apps seem to be fine, but Solarwinds seems to get hit hard for a few minutes.
The Guest OS is W2k3. So I'm hoping when I decide to take the leap and rebuild Solarwinds Orion on Win 2008 server that might help as well.
Just wondering if any VMware and Solarwinds customers (or Solarwinds Engineers, of course) out there have any tips on how to optimize VMWare for Solarwinds.
