F5 Big-IP

We just recently added two BIG-ip boxes onto our network. I want to be able to use Orion to monitor their CPU and Memory usage. I set it up, but it's constantly showing them pegged out at 100%. I know this is a false indication, since when I access their built in monitoring function it shows both CPU and Memory significantly lower. Any idea what I can do to fix this?

You can either figure it out yourself (SNMP MIB Walk) or contact F5 and ask them for the SNMP OID string for the CPU utilization. Once you have that you can input that OID into a custom mib poller and you should good to go from there.

We have two very old Big-IP boxes in our infrastructure we monitor with Orion and they report CPU/Memory just fine. Their OS revision is: BIG-IP 4.5PTF-0 BIG-IP Kernel 4 i386.

They're very, very old.

The newer F5 Big-IP's are running a Linux OS. You will have to either contact F5 for the exact OIDs or walk the tree using the EE MIB Browser and assign a custom MIB to the device. Just don't forget to add the custom MIB to the device detail view (like I usually do...)

The new BigIPs don't have an OID for CPU per se. They've got three different OIDs: CPU idle time, CPU transact time, CPU non-transact time. You'd have to do a custom poller that's calcs the 'negative' of idle time...

Has anyone come across this any more recently? I've gotten with F5 and they gave me a TON of OIDs to work with. My question is am I going to have to do this all under custom setup or is Orion capable of working with them a little better now?
