Find Which Map an Object is On

Greetings All!!

Is there a way to determine which map an item is on? Ideally, I would like to see a list off all nodes, and what maps they appear on. That would give me an easy place to look to make sure I haven't missed any nodes on my maps.

Just to close the loop, I opened a support ticket with this question. This information is not stored any where, so getting the data isn't easy. The best way I found to do this was by creating a custom property called MapName, and I simply add the name of the map to that custom property. Then in Network Atlas, I can group by MapName, and open each individual map and check for check marks in the node list. Not a great solution, but it gets the job done.

We also create a custom property, but utilise an SSIS job to parse the cached map objects and populate the field (a nightly process).

I'll post a copy of the SSIS script later today when I have the chance.

If I may suggest another alternative, there is a report in the Content Exchange that may do what you want. I cannot say whether it works with version 10, but you can download it and see:

That report was the old DTS script I developed and used pre version 9 (back in 2008).

It did the same type of operation, but when Network Atlas was introduced (and both the map file format and locations changed), we needed to modify the process.

It was at the same time converted from a DTS script, to a SSIS job (for SQL Server 2005).
