Nokia IP560 IPSO 6.2 reporting 100% memory utilization false

Hi,

We are using Orion NPM 10.1 to monitor our Checkpoint firewalls - Nokia appliances running IPSO. We recently upgraded a few of them to IPSO 6.2 and Checkpoint R71.20 and noticed that Orion is all of a sudden reporting 100% or more memory utilization on them even though "top" and "vmstat" report normal memory utilization. Is there a bug in Orion or is there a MIB we are missing or need to upgrade?? Please help!

Do you know what the proper MIB to get memory is? Is so let us know and I can file a defect if there is an issue. Also you can create a UnDP to gather the CPU.

Hi Georgi--

The latest SW MIB should be included in 10.1 or you can download it from your customer portal.

Also, if you have the OID, you use the UnDP to build a custom poller.

If the Device was working correctly in 10.1, and the issue started to occur after you upgraded the Firmware on your Devices, then there may be a bug in the Vendor's software reporting incorrectly.

You will want to contact your Vendor to see if there is a Known issue.

We have just upgraded to IPSO6.2 and are getting 100% memory but the real memory is fine ....

Haven't had much time to troubleshoot this, we are ignoring the false high memory utilization for the time being. Tried to troubleshoot it with Checkpoint but they gave us the runarounds, asking for debug information etc etc. Basically this is the price for upgrading to the latest version of anything. I hope it will get fixed at the next version of either IPSO or Solarwinds.

I am having the same issues with the cpu stats on my checkpoints. The gauges in orion are showing stats that are peaking at near 100% but whenever I view the cpu stats from the nokia gui they are showing util at around 6%.

I then perfomed a mib walk of both my boxes which pulled back the cpu oid of 1.3.6.1.4.1.94.1.21.1.7.2.1.5.

I then opened up Orion UDP and selcted the above oid (name: ipsoProcessPercentCPU) and hit the test button. Both of my boxes returned a vlaue of 0 for cpu utilisation?

I then selected oid 1.3.6.1.4.1.94.1.21.1.7.1 (name: ipsoProcessorUtilization) and hit the test button. The value returned matched what was on the nokias.

It appears orion is pointing at the wrong oid for nokia cpu stats - how can this be amended within Orion instead fo creating a custom poller/gauge and then having to apply it to nokia node views.
