Hyperthreading and NPM

What is SolarWinds position on Hyper-threading processors versus physical separate cores? In the Orion environment, does the HT create as much value as a physical core or does the physical core create a significant amount of value over the HT processor arrangement?

Does this change if more modules are applied?

Oh, the old HT debate... While HT does an excellent job of parallelizing execution and keeping physical cores busy- it is not a replacement for physical cores. 4 core w/ HT <> 8 cores

Hi Jason,

HT isn't something you want on an always on server/application. You don't want power throttling features or CPU power saving features like C states enabled either.

These will all cause erratic server performance which you should avoid, especially on an SQL server!

Recently disabled Hyper Threading on my Orion FE. Currently running 11.5.2 and had been experiencing inconsistent CPU spikes. You can clearly see the improvements.
