SNMP Polling Issue

Hi,

I have been trying to figure out why NPM cannot SNMP poll our Cisco router in the Middle East using public IP Address.

When I add the loopback IP or WAN IP in NPM for node management, the SNMPv2 string does not reply. Debug SNMP sessions does not generate any logs.

If I use the private IP address on the router which can be access from my PC via VPN network, NPM works and I can add the node for management.

Is there something on the router that I may have missed or need to enable or is the problem more with the ISP?

Sounds like access to that remote site is only via VPN tunnel. Can you traceroute from the NPM with and without the VPN? If you have a security person/dept, I'd have a talk with them.
