Min/Max/Average bps

Everyone, I have a bit of problem in relation to the above graphing function within Orion. Here is the scenario,

We monitor a number of Customer Firewalls, all the same vendor. All interface speeds are set correctly. However, their are discrepencies between what is the Max bps is being reported on Orion, compared to a reports run on a Packeteer.

The stats orion shows, is very similar to the Average rate as shown by the Packeteer, ie the Average rate at a particular time of day. An example would be at 9am on a day:

Orion Max bps = 9Mbps

Packeteer Average = 9Mpbs

Packeteer Peak = 13Mbps

I have a number of questions

1. How is the Min/Max/Average bps graph worked out?

2. Do I need a Vendor Specific Mib to Monitor this interface correctly?

My thoughts are I shouldnt need a vendor specific mib, as this should be covered in MIB II.
