Configure Advanced Alerts help....

I'm wondering if anyone could give me a hand with the Advanced Alert I'm trying to configure and get working.

What I want to do is monitor all my interfaces on my switches with a particular MIB OID and want to be alerted if the value returned by that OID has changed. This OID is a numeric value that increments in value when an error conditon occurs. So looking for a change in value would probably do the trick but I can't seem to get it to work.

Anyone have any ideas?

In the trigger condition screen, make sure the "Type of
Property to Monitor" is set to the type of custom poller you have defined
(node or interface). Then you can define the specific poller the alert will be
based on, and continue configuring the alert as normal.

Thanks for the reply Mark but I had already this set to "Custom Interface Pooler".

Here's what I'm trying to do:

I created a "Custom MIB Poller" for the interface MIB OID I wanted to monitor and alert on.

I assigned the "Custom Mib Poller" I created to several of my switches that I know are getting the errors my Custom MIB Poller is configured to look for.

I then created an advanced alert and set my "Type of Property to Monitor" to "Custom Interface Poller" In my "Trigger Condition" I selected "Trigger alert when all of the follwing apply" I then added a "complex condition" that said MIB is equal to Ethernet-MIB dot3 blah blah (the one I created in the Custom MIB Poller). I then added a another "complex condition" that says "Field total has changed"

I set up my "Trigger Actions" to email me and I have nevever received an alert.

I can't figure out what I'm missing.

I even made a copy of this Alert and changed the second "complex conditon" to "Field rate has changed" and it has not fired either.

Under the Trigger condition tab, the first drop down is Type of Property to monitor, select Custom Node/Interface Poller depending on what you have setup.
-Click the Add button at the bottom, select Simple condition
-For the first asterisk, select Poller Name
-Under the second asterisk select the poller name you have setup and then add a complex one trying field Total is not equal to value, (etc....)

Another suggestion would be to run the SW diagnostics and examine the DB -> AlertLog.csv and the Alertdefinitions.csv to determine if something is mis configured perhaps.

The Diagnostics Utility can be found in C:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\SolarwindsDiagnostics.exe

Got as far at selecting a Simple condition and for the "Poller Name" I found it at the top of the list under "Custom Interface Pollers", I selected it "Poller Name" and when I clicked on the second asterisk the dropdown window is empty. Drats!!!

I might just have to have two Dr. Peppers today. LOL This isn't going as well as I had hoped it would.

But I do appreciate your trying to help me out.
