NPM - select interfaces listed in a file

Hello

NPM 9.5 SP2. In a large network and in the last step of the initial discovery process, instead of selecting interfaces for each device interactively one by one, I want to instruct NPM to monitor the Router CPU + selected interfaces referenced by their assigned IPs. In other words, a file that contains a single IP address per line that NPM reads and recognises the Rouetr/interface assigned to that IP then check it for monitoring. I saw this in HPOpenView NNM.

Any help especially if you talk about 700 routers and more than 18,000 interfaces from which I have to select let's say around 3000 of interest Only.

This sounds like you might want to use the bulk upload feature of Network Sonar Discovery. For more information, see "Importing a List of Nodes Using a Seed File" in the Orion NPM Administrator Guide.

Thank you for the hint. That helps providing a list of Boxes to be monitored, fine, but what if you need to select certain interfaces from each Router and we talk about 700 routers, some routers have 600 interfaces to select from ! Even if somone hase an SLX license "Unlimited # of interfaces", he still doesn't need to monitor all of them ! Wondering whether we can do this by using SQL UPDATE statement or this may create unconsistency somewhere in the Orion DB ? SolarWinds GURUs may have their idea as usual How to proceed in a large scale network then ?

The concept is there as expected (i.e SQL UPDATE), thanks too for providing the exact QUERY for "desciption" as example which is still useful. However, in my case, I need to only monitor interfaces which associated IP_Addr is in an IP_list_file.txt (one IP per line), so here I have to use a sort of SQL "IN" syntax pointing to that text file. Any idea how to do so ?

Let's put it this way: in a large scale network, you are asked to monitor only interfaces which IP_Addresses list is given in a text file. How to proceed ?
