SNMPD.Conf file

Question

I have net-snmp installed on our linux machines with the standard set up in the snmpd.conf file.  The only think that i can monitor is CPU and Memory utilization.  I need to be able to monitor the volumes on the servers. I called support and got the standard this is not an orion issue response that I get every time i call about something.  I am not a big linux guy but know my way around enough to make it work if I knew what i was missing.  Someone, anyone please help.

I had a similar problem for a while. Our fix was to update our net-snmp on the Linux servers to the newest stable version. If yours are Redhat based then a simple "sudo yum install net-snmp" should update it as long as your repositories are set up. Make sure to back up your snmpd.conf file first. I do: "cp /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf.old". Double check your snmpd.conf file after updating. All you should really need in your snmp.conf for snmpv2 is configuring your community string, so: "rocommunity mysnmpcommunityhere orionpoller.mydomain.com". All the rest in the sample snmpd.conf is fluff as far as I can tell, like giving access to public for a few OIDs and setting up some sample v3 access which you probably don't need. Restart your snmpd service "sudo service snmpd restart". Then list resources in Orion and you should be good to go.

Hello,

Did you find a fix.  I'm having the same issue of it not displaying "Disk Volumes".  I'm able to run snmpwalk locally and remotely to display output.  I'm also able to use the Universal Device Poller to display.

The problem appears that my linux box does not have a mib file loaded and I can't seem to find that file.  I would suppose as well that the snmpd.conf file would have to be edited to see the mib file as well
