Alcaltel Lucent 6900 and 6450 Switch Monitoring

Everyone,

We recently upgraded a large part of our infrastructure to use ALE 6900 and 6450 switches. Our business partner that installed the switches has indicated that our SolarWinds NPM and NCM servers need to be shutdown because they interfere with how the ALE switches operates. Specifically, the polling of Solarwinds will cause ALE to go into looping and have latency issues.

Can anyone substantiate this information?

We don't want to keep paying for a product that we can no longer use.

I "think" that "partner" is trying to sell you something :-)

Did they explain why that happens ?

polling stations or pinging them does not cause the loop...

that place probably will know if that switch is configured like it should...

I concur with your assertion about our partner. But we have no money to purchase anything, so they need to stand down.

The explanation that they provided basically stated that the intense polling that Solarwinds conducts is interfering with OSPF routing :-( so much that it is causing latency issues between switches.

Don't believe that hype at all. That is why I posted this question.

Right now our Solarwinds server is shutdown. We are going to start it back up and see what happens.
