Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
Orion System Manager Doesn't Start
duckfather
Hi all
I have Orion 7.5.15 installed on one of our servers and it's been working fine. Until I was forced to install Blackberry Enterprise Server on the same box. Now, I can't open the Orion System Manager at all. The splash screen appears for a second and then just disappears. I also can't run the Shutdown NetPerfMon application (it just closes too).
I assume that this is because the various applications can't attach to the services or website?
All the services seem to be running ok, as I'm still receiving a few alerts and can connect to the website.
Does anyone have any ideas? (and no, I can't un-install Blackberry, even though I want to, as it's in use by our directors and they will not relinquish it ;-()
Failing that, is there any way to manually add / remove nodes from the SQL database?
Cheers in advance.
Andy

I'd make a strong suggestion to the directors that if they want their network monitored correctly, they will have to find another box for their BES server.
If they don't give you another server, then they can only have on or the other, but not both!
I learned my lesson the hard way (just like this). I now keep my Orion server "Pristine".
There are too many unknowns when it comes to software conflicts with Orion on the same server.
Best just to keep things simple & easy to troubleshoot.
As for adding nodes to the DB manually, this is not possible (there are other posts here on this issue).

I agree with NG the Orion box should be kept pristine as possible.
Have your tried reinstalling NPM? I would just try a reinstall directly over it and see if this fixes the issue.

BEfore reinstalling it you could try to re-run the Configuration Wizard

I agree completely. BES was put on this server against my advice, but we didn't, and still don't, have any spare kit to install it on.
I've tried re-installing NPM over the top as one of my first fix attempts, and it hasn't worked
If I un-install completely, will it delete the existing database? (DB is on a seperate SQL server, not on the local box).
Thanks in advance
Andy
