Delay in E-Mail when site is down

We are recieving delayed messages on E-mail when we have an event. When one of our lines goes up and down frequently we get repeated messages that are incorrect. Almost as if they were out of phase. So when a site comes back up we think it's come down.

Sounds like you are having issues with the mail server set up and/or delivery/routing.
You can test an alert from the Alerts configuration page. That way you can see
how long it takes for the message to get to your in-box.

You could also add the "send Windows Net message" alert to the e-mail alert.
This would also give you an idea of the delay from when the alert is generated
to when you receive the e-mail.

I have only had delays in the e-mail when we've had issues with the SMTP/Exchange servers.
It usually comes in within seconds of the Windows Net Message and the SMS on my phone.
