Cisco power supply/fan advanced alert

Hi All!

Im trying to write an alert based on the power supply and fan state of my 6500's

I have two UnDP's to create a table in the webview which are pointing at :

Power Supply - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.5.1.3
Fan - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.4.1.3

But i cant seem to create an alert based on the change of the value.

Anyone done an alert based on these UnDP's?

Any help is much appreciated.

I have an alert setup using both of these UnDP's. Here's what I have...

The first condition is optional... I have a custom node property named "Monitor Power Supply State" to tag which devices I am alerting on as some of my older cisco switches do not support these oid's.

Trigger when ALL apply

-> Monitor Power Supply State is equal to Yes

-> -> Trigger when ANY apply

-> -> -> PollerName is = to ciscoEnvMonSupplyState

-> -> -> PollerName is = to sysChassisPowerSupplyStatus

-> -> Trigger when ALL apply

-> -> Status is not equal to Normal

-> -> Status is not equal to Not Present

This is what I have for the power supply alert...

Subject:

Power Supply Failure on ${NodeName}.

Body:

One or more of the power supplies have failed on ${NodeName}.

Time Detected: ${ShortTime}

Status of all power supplies:
${CustomPollerStatus.Status}

Just as a note... The sample that I posted was for the power supply alert. The fan alert is exactly the same except there is only one status that I'm watching for. (Status is not equal to Normal).

I have a related fan status issue, so I though I would add it to this thread instead of creating a new one.

I have a poller setup to monitor the status of all my fan, fan trays etc..When I go to assign the poller to a node, I test the poller against the node prior to adding it to ensure it is working properly. The poller is working as expected for every device in my network (i.e 4500, 6500, 3750/3750E, 3560, 3800, 3700). I have 8 7206 VXR's w NPE-G2 installed and when I test this poller against these routers it errors with "The OID is not supported).

I'm using the CISCO-ENVMON-MIB:ciscoEnvMonFanState and tried all other related ones (ie. CISCO-ENVMON-MIB:ciscoEnvMonFanState - table, notification, index etc...) and none of them work.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with polling 7200 routers? Is there a work around or do I just need to rely on syslog or snmp traps for these devices? There is a specific reason that I may need to use a poller opposed to logs or traps and am just trying to test everything to see what my options are.

Any help is appreciated. Dave

The cisco-envmon-mib is not supported on the VXR's. the mib will work on the 7201's if you have any...

Ive emailed my SE's at Cisco to try and find out for you.

how are you adding " monitor power supply state is equal to yes"

have you got a screen shot you can show me?

'monitor power supply state is equal to yes' is a custom property that drew uses. I dont have it setup so i ignored that line.

If you use:

Trigger when ALL apply

-> Trigger when ANY apply

-> -> PollerName is = to ciscoEnvMonSupplyState

-> -> PollerName is = to sysChassisPowerSupplyStatus

-> Trigger when ALL apply

-> -> Status is not equal to Normal

-> -> Status is not equal to Not Present

It should work for you

So I'm in advanced alerts and I'm trying to add a trigger condition to a new alert, but when I add a new condition group and click the *, I don't see anything that says "PollerName" under any of the categories. What am I missing?
