Discards and Access Lists

We utilize Access Lists on routers and multi-layer switches. Of course "hits" on these access lists where the action is Deny results in incrementing discards showing up in the "Top 10 Errors & Discards..." element. Does anyone have any comments on how they handle these? I wish there was a way to delineate between discards as a result of ACL hits, and discards due to (any other reason).

I have this same problem. It also happens if you are using the windows firewall, the discards are huge. I have just started ignoring it (although I know that is bad).

I would even be happy with a "top 10 errors" (no discards) option to choose from.

a workaround might be to filter firewall & devices so they don't blow out list...
