Custom properties missing in Report Writer

I just recently upgraded our Orion install from version 8 to 9. I tried to create a report in Report Writer and noticed that that I cannot filter by the custom properties I had created. They were there before the upgrade, but now they aren't. Any explanations. Please note that if I go into Custom Property Editor everything is there.

Hello there

I have this also.

Running Orion V9 SP1.

If I run the query on the report writer, all looks OK when I extract a custom property. When I build the report though, the custom property repeats the heading I created all the way down the column (not getting variable it appears).

Also, my reports section on the Orion website show all my reports from the days I used V8.0 but they are not visible in the report writer itself.

Any ideas on what went missing?

I also had this same issue in version 9.0.
I was recommended to add a new custom property to the nodes and then the custom property would "magically" appear. Like the proverbial rabbit they did!

I had to repeat this exercise when I upgraded to 9.1. BTW, removing the additonal field had no impact on the Custom Property not working.
Within the report writer I needed to verify that the custom properties were again populated. This was a 50/50 situation.

This is because the Report schemas are updated automatically when you add a custom property - you can also update them manually if you wish as follows:

Open the Custom Property Editor tool

Right click on a blank grey area of the Toolbar, and go to ‘Customize..’

Click the Commands tab

Under the “Commands” section, scroll down and find the “Update Report Schemas” button. Drag this to your Toolbar and click on it.

Hi there

Still having issues. I have a case open for this at the moment. I thought I was going places but apparently not.

My report writer/poller is on a different server to the SQL/IIS server.

I always carry out the step Caroline mentions above but its not working in this case.

My new custom reports in the report writer are not appearing in the web interface even though the box is ticked. I believe the problems are inter related with the schema issue.

This is because the Report schemas are updated automatically when you add a custom property - you can also update them manually if you wish as follows:
Open the Custom Property Editor tool
Right click on a blank grey area of the Toolbar, and go to ‘Customize..’
Click the Commands tab
Under the “Commands” section, scroll down and find the “Update Report Schemas” button. Drag this to your Toolbar and click on it.

This issue just appeared again with the 9.1 SP1 installation.
The above "fix" did work for the reports. Solarwinds may want to consider adding this code as a post-installation job.

Excellent - your instructions to "update report schemas" resolved the issue of custom properties missing from Report Writer and existing reports after I had upgraded to NPM 9.1

I had problems with the custom properties in the reports. I lost the custom properties option and several reports were affected. After adding a dummy custom property, all the custom properties appeared again in the reports.
