Port Labelling

I've just labelled our switch ports on our core switch and want Orion to update it's port labelling but cannot work out how to do it, can it be done without having to remove and re-add the device?
Thanks

Your core switch isn't running CatOS is it?

Right-click the Node in the Orion System Manager and choose "Node Details". This give you the option to "Rediscover". I'm not sure that does what you want but it's worth a try.

Move from CATOS to Native IOS.
This will solve your problem.

Nope not running CATos it's a 3COM core (No chuckling now) I did a re-discover in the node details but nothing happened, so I left it and after a couple of hours the port descriptions changed.
Does the re-discover node not run straight away?
Thanks

Hi there Jon,
You would have to do a manual rediscover on every one of the interfaces you had monitored on that switch in order to update the interface descriptions in SW.
Alternately you can just wait for SW to do its rediscovery of all nodes, interfaces, and volumes (defaults to every 180 minutes).
Be fantastic
